Pay apps for wall and ceiling contractors
A 40-line schedule of values, billed in five minutes
Framing, hang, tape and finish, ceilings, on every floor. Drywall jobs have more lines than most, and they all move every month. PayAppHub carries them forward so you only type what changed.
Wall and ceiling contractors usually bill by floor or area, broken down by phase. On a four-story building that's easily 30 or 40 lines, and most of them move every single month. Doing that in a spreadsheet means retyping last month's numbers, checking that every "previous" column matches, and hoping the formula in row 37 didn't break.
Bill by floor and by phase
| # | Description | Scheduled value |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Metal stud framing, Level 1 | $64,000 |
| 2 | Board hang, Level 1 | $38,000 |
| 3 | Tape and finish (Level 4), Level 1 | $31,500 |
| 4 | Acoustical ceilings, Level 1 | $27,000 |
| 5 | Metal stud framing, Level 2 | $61,000 |
| 6 | Board hang, Level 2 | $36,500 |
| 7 | Tape and finish (Level 4), Level 2 | $30,000 |
| 8 | Level 5 finish, lobby and feature walls | $12,500 |
| 9 | Acoustical ceilings, Level 2 | $25,500 |
…and so on for every floor. Set it up once by typing it, importing it from Excel, or uploading your subcontract and letting PayAppHub read it.

Only type what changed
Every pay app starts from where the last one ended. Previous applications, work this period and the balance to finish are calculated for you, and the G702 summary updates as you type. On a big wall-and-ceiling job, that turns an afternoon of spreadsheet work into a few minutes.
Board stocked on the floors
When a building is stocked, the board, track and studs are sitting on the floors weeks before they're hung. If your contract allows it, bill that as stored material on the right floor's line, attach the delivery tickets and photos, and move it to work as the walls go up.
Levels of finish and what the specs ask for
Gypsum board specs (09 29 00) usually call out a level of finish by area: Level 4 for most painted walls, Level 5 for walls under critical lighting or with gloss paint, Level 1 or 2 above ceilings and in service areas. The difference in labor between them is real, which is why many wall-and-ceiling contractors put Level 5 areas on their own line.
The same goes for framing (09 22 16) and acoustical ceilings (09 51 13). Ceilings can't start until the mechanical, electrical and sprinkler work above them is done and inspected, so they often bill months after the walls on the same floor. Separate lines keep a fast-moving framing line from hiding a ceiling line that hasn't started.
Retainage you can actually track
You'll be on the job for months, and retainage adds up floor by floor. PayAppHub shows retainage held on every pay app and builds the retainage application at the end with your final lien waiver.
Questions
Can I import my schedule of values from Excel?
Yes. Download the PayAppHub template, paste your lines in, and upload it. You can also import where an existing job stands, so you don't re-enter old pay apps.
Some lines bill by percent and some by dollars. Is that OK?
Yes. On each line you can enter either a percent complete or a dollar amount for the month.
Can I bill drywall material stored on site?
If your contract allows stored materials, yes. Bill it in the Stored column with photos and delivery tickets attached. PayAppHub reminds you if you bill stored material without photos.
